Dear Reaper, Why, oh why have you decided to change on me. Things were so good. Then you had to go and make it different. Now, when I'm recording, when I hit "space", not only do you now PAUSE instead of STOPPING, but the cursor will stay at the point I stopped, not the point I had originally selected. This makes it so time consuming to try to record a segment over and over, because you and I both know I'm not a good enough guitarist to get it on the first take. You've added superfluous mouse movements and keystrokes to what used to be an otherwise streamlined process. Also, I now have to hold "alt" to zoom around my cursor area instead of just rolling my little mouse wheel. Remember how I used to roll it? Remember how much you liked that? Why don't you like that anymore. All in all, I guess what I'm trying to say is, Reaper, why you gotta be like dat? -VikingGuitar All joking aside, I hate these little changes. WHY DID THEY DO THIS!!! Please, PLEASE, remove these things in the next release. It just bogs down my recording time and frustrates the shit out of me.

Dude, check the options. You can tell the play/rec cursor to come back to edit cursor when playing/recording is done. YOU CAN CHANGE YOUR KEYBOARD CONTROLS! Use the Action window! It's a 15 second change, seriously. Do it yourself.

We didn't change any of these defaults. The two "old" behaviors you describe are still the current defaults. Perhaps your ini file got corrupted, or you are using someone else's preferences? Try Program Files -> Reaper (reset configuration to factory defaults).

dear windows xp: why when i reinstall you do you lose all the myriad option and setting changes that i made on the last installation? why do you revert to the rounded, short bus "xp" look instead of the angular, classy "classic?" why do you show folders with thumbnails and large crayola icons rather than the far more convenient "details" view? why isn't "explore" the default folder view option? why do i have to reinstall Microsoft XP powertoys? windows xp, why you gotta be like dat?

Sounds like you installed the Reaper plugin for Rockband Network.

You guys are all awesome. I half-heartedly poked around trying to fix these things and then gave up in frustration (probably should have done it when I wasn't in the middle of recording.) Once again, the Reaper forums have pulled through for me!

Do you know what caused the problem? Was it the RBN installer (I think their installer does override some default behaviors), or something else?
