I've just upgraded a G4 from OS 9 to OS X 10.2.6 running PT 6.1. The system has an ATTO Express PCI DC SCSI card and a Medea Audiorack LP 160 plus a second external SCSI drive. Under OS 9, everything works fine and has done for a year or so. Under a clean 10.2.6 install, the Audiorack drive never appears on the desktop. If I run the OS X disk utility, it can't see the Audiorack drive either. The other SCSI drive appears on the desktop fine, and the SCSI cables appear OK and are terminated. I've tried changing cables over. If I run the ATTO OS X config utility, it shows the SCSI channel and I can see the Audiorack volume on the SCSI channel. The ATTO drivers are installed OK, and the ATTO is running the latest firmware. I tried calling Medea but couldn't get thru to their tech support today. The Audiorack documentation has no mention of OS X. For OS 9, Medea says to simply format it with the regular Apple Disk Utility i.e. there is no special software for the Audiorack as it appears to the Mac as a regular SCSI drive. Any ideas? I looked around to see any special SCSI utilities or commands for OS X but I haven't been able to find much. I must say it's pretty lame for Medea not to address OS X on their website. If it's something simple I am overlooking, a small effort on their part could have saved me a lot of aggravation. There is a compatibility matrix which appears to indicate it is OS X compatible but the user manual only covers OS 9.

I got an email back from Medea tech support (they took less than an hour, which is pretty good). In short, the firmware needs to be updated to AUD5 to work with OS X. They have an OS 9 firmware updater they can email you.
I have a number of the Medea 8bay audio racks and have been using the AUD5 firmware for sometime, and overall it has been pretty good. I have had a few weird DAE errors pop up when I am recording and sometimes the system reports -9073 and -9064 errors even when I am working to reinitialized drives. I have my Atto card setup correctly, and the drives are setup correctly, but every once and a while these errors pop up. I would be interested to see how it works for you. thanks Haxie
