magma cardbus crashes on bounced sessions

What plug-ins? What DAE setting? What Playback Engine? What sample and bit rate? Is the LaCie a 400 or 800? Have you run Disk Warrior on the LaCie drive (as well as your boot drive)? Anyway, need more info. Craig

I've always run at DAE 4, CPU as high as it would go, and maximum track and DSP count and have not had any problems at all. I run OWC firewire drives; audio off a FW800, and video off a 400. At one point, on an earlier version of Panther, there was a firmware issue with the firewire drives, as they related to the Powerbook. This sounds like hocus-pocus, but have you tried running audio off a different firewire drive, an 800 with a 912 chipset? I also have a desktop system (both systems are HD3, not Accel) and the desktop system certainly has more horsepower under the hood. But once I upgraded my drives' firmware (and ran the DAE/Playback settings maxedout) whaatever problems I had went away. How many tracks were you running? If you send me your session, I can replace the ghost regions with 48k audio, try a bounce, and see what happens.... Best of luck. Craig

Thanks for the offer Craig. I could probably drive to your house as I live in Altadena right next to JPL. I have tried running from another drive and have made sure that my current LaCie has the latest firmware. I am running 16 tracks, so nothing too taxing here. The difficulty here is trying to track down if this is a digi problem or a magma problem. Of course, each company has asked me to call the other... I'll keep you posted, but for now I am putting in my older G4 and canning the magma cardbus. It's just not reliable. Chris
